Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Identify storage subsystem components
- Trace an I/O request through the storage subsystem
- Address data directly on DASD
- Identify available DASD types and controllers
- Use device-support facilities (ICKDSF) to perform service functions such as volume initialization, locating defective tracks, and assigning alternate tracks
