Sun StorEdge 9985/9990 Network Storage Controller Architecture and Administration (HDS-420)

This course provides customers with key information on the Sun StorEdge 9990 and Sun StorEdge 9985 Systems and how they are an integral component of Data Storage solutions. Students become familiarized with the architecture, physical layout and principles of operation of both systems. Both the 9990 and 9985 are examined along with their configuration requirements and performance levels. In addition, the course introduces the key software products available on both systems and how they are used to add value to customers IT and business objectives.The course also provides an opportunity for a hands-on experience with the Sun StorEdge 9990 and 9985 hardware and software. Lab activities give participants the opportunity to locate the physical components and to complete the procedural steps required to make a host operating system recognize the logical units on a system.

This course is designed for customers with no prior experience with Sun StorEdge 99xx products who need a fundamental understanding and hands-on experience with the hardware and key software products for the Sun StorEdge 9990 and Sun StorEdge 9985 systems.

    • Use the Hitachi Storage Navigator to define I/O paths from the host server to the Universal Storage Platform and Network Storage Controller systems (LUN Mapping, LUN Security)
    • Perform Hitachi Cache
