Experienced Developers and Database Administrators who are upgrading from previous versions of MySQL to MySQL 5.0.

Prerequisites

Students who wish to attend this course, should have attended the Using MySQL 4.1 or Managing MySQL 4.1 courses or be able to perform the following task:
  • Can state general facts about the MySQL privilege system
  • Can view data in databases by using the MySQL SELECT Queries
  • Can use MySQL functions in SELECT Queries
  • Can create tables and explain column types in earlier versions of MySQL
  • Can use JOINs in earlier versions of MySQL SELECT Queries

Skills Gained

At the completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Create database procedures and functions (including cursors), triggers and views
  • Describe the new status and configuration variables
  • Write SQL to retrieve information from the INFORMATION_SCHEMA database
