JavaServer Pages (JSP) and servlets arethe key web tier technologies defined in the Java 2Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE platform).The Web Component Development With Servlet and JSPTechnologies course provides experienced Java developersa way to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary toquickly build web applications from JSP and servlettechnologies using the Tomcat web container and theStruts framework.Students are exposed to the current methods for analyzing,designing, developing, and deploying web applicationswith Java technologies. Real-world lab exercises providestudents with experience in constructing and deployingthe small- to medium-scale web applications found inintranet and low-volume commercial sites.This course also is an ideal method for preparing forthe revised Sun Certified Web ComponentDeveloper (SCWCD) for J2EE 1.4 certification examination.However, an SCWCD candidate should also spend six monthsbuilding real-world web applications using the JSP andservlet technologies before taking the exam.

Java programming language developers, with skillsequivalent to a Sun Certified Developer for JavaPlatform, who are creating web components (such asservlets and custom tags) used in the assembly andgeneration of dynamic web content. This is not a coursefor web page designers using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML),JavaScript technology, or other web presentationtechnologies.
