The Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9(Application Server PE 9): Development and Deployment course providesstudents with hands-on experience with the administration features ofthe product. This course focuses on the following Application ServerPE 9 topics: ease of development for Java Platform Enterprise Edition(Java EE) 5, installation and basic administration, service-oriented architecture(SOA) features, deployment, performance, developer experience, security,debugging, and troubleshooting features.PLEASE NOTE: The IAS-2489 course is delivered in a one-day, workshop format (10% lecture, 90% lab).The course will present multiple lab exercises to provide students with hands-on experience using the product.

  • Assess your understanding of the information provided in the prerequisite course, WMT-IAS-1499, Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9: Overview.

Module 2 - Installing and Administering Application Server PE 9

  • Install the Application Server
  • Use the basic administration tools provided with the Application Server

Module 3 - Key Technologies in Application Server PE 9

  • Work with the Java DB database
  • Configure Java DataBase Connectivity (JDBC) connection pools and resources
  • Work with Java EE applications

Module 4 - JMX Infrastructure and the AMX API

  • Work with Managed Beans (MBeans) in the Application Server
  • Deploy custom MBeans
  • Configure self management rules

Module 5 - SOA Features in Application Server PE 9

  • Deploy and test web service applications

Module 6 - Deployment

  • Deploy Java EE applications
  • Launch Java EE application clients using Java Web Start software
  • Deploy Plain Old Java Object (POJO) Java web services

Module 7 - Developer Experience Features

  • Understand the class loader hierarchy of the Application Server
